Scrooge! The Musical: Three Magical Nights at Claremont Senior School

02-01-2026

Claremont Senior School opened its doors to an unforgettable theatrical experience: "Scrooge! The Musical."

Over three enchanting nights in December, the school hall buzzed with excitement as 380 eager theatregoers filled the seats, ready to be whisked away into the heart of Victorian England.

The production was a resounding success, drawing in a diverse crowd that included proud parents, dedicated staff, students, and local school children. The attendees were treated to an evening brimming with talent, showcasing the hard work and passion of Claremont's senior school performers.

The cast, a vibrant mix of students from various year groups, poured their hearts into months of rigorous rehearsals. Lines were memorised with precision, and choreographies were crafted and perfected to captivate the audience. Behind the scenes, the school's orchestra worked tirelessly to ensure that the musical score captured the essence of the story. Their efforts paid off, as the music seamlessly wove into the fabric of the narrative, enhancing the emotional journey of the characters.

Set against a stunning, picture-postcard backdrop created by Richard Waring and Stephanie Carr-Gomm, and supported by Claremont students, the story unfolds on Christmas Eve. Scrooge, known for his disdain of festive cheer, finds himself visited by the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley. Marley's spectral warning of a dismal fate sets the stage for Scrooge's transformative journey.

Three spirits guide Scrooge: the Ghost of Christmas Past revisits his history, the Ghost of Christmas Present shows him others' joys and struggles, and the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come reveals a bleak future. These visits spark a transformation in Scrooge, teaching him compassion and generosity.

As the final curtain fell on our Gala performance, the audience erupted into applause as they had done the previous two evenings, celebrating the remarkable talent and dedication of the young performers. It was a testament to the creativity and spirit of the Claremont Senior School community – a huge congratulations to everyone involved!
