Reception Discovery Morning
Space to explore. Confidence to grow.
Starting school is a big step. At Claremont, we help children feel secure, make friends and discover the joy of learning.
From investigating woodland discoveries to practising their first sentences, children build skills through purposeful play and carefully guided teaching. Forest and Beach School bring learning to life outdoors, while weekly swimming and creative activities give them opportunities to try something new.
Throughout Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, we nurture each child’s confidence and help them develop strong foundations for what comes next.
Learning through play
Children grow life skills, stay physically active, learn literacy, recognise numbers and understand the world through purposeful play and lively discussions.
Dedicated learning areas
Learners grow in our Early Years and Pre-Prep building with their own play areas and thoughtfully designed activity spaces for both indoor and outdoor learning.
Outdoor exploration
Children enjoy our Forest and Beach School programmes and activities in the mud kitchen and vegetable gardens within a vast campus including expansive woodlands.
Multilingual learning
Children gain English fluency through storytelling, songs, activities and interactive plays designed to enhance vocabulary, listening and speaking abilities.
Partnership with parents
Our teachers partner up with parents to share updates, observations and improve learning experiences for our youngest learners.
After-school care
Children enjoy clubs and activities related to music, dance, outdoor explorations and sports after regular hours. We provide extended care till 5.30pm to make it easier for busy parents.
Friendly admissions process
Our admissions process is simple, personalised and has additional support for international families.
Exciting sports
Students learn key skills early on, including throwing, catching, balance and coordination, so that by Year 3, they are eager to keep learning and later to compete.
Space to explore
Every day brings something new to discover. From investigating insects in Forest School to exploring the shoreline at Beach School, children follow their curiosity and ask questions. Hands-on classroom activities, creative play and outdoor adventures help them discover new interests and find joy in learning.
Confidence to grow
Confidence grows with every small achievement. Through purposeful play and carefully guided teaching, children build strong foundations in reading, writing and maths. Weekly swimming, music and creative activities encourage them to try something new. Our teachers recognise each child’s progress, helping them become increasingly independent and ready for their next step.
A happy start
Feeling secure gives children the confidence to join in and be themselves. At Claremont, caring teachers take time to know each child and work closely with parents to support a happy start. Children build friendships, learn to care for others and become part of a community where their efforts and individuality are celebrated.
I’m passionate about Early Years and Outdoor Learning, expanding our Forest School provision and introducing Beach School along the way. I believe little people need more than screens and schedules - they need space to explore, get muddy and discover the world around them. My recipe for a happy childhood? A pinch of adventure, a sprinkle of sunshine and a big handful of outdoor learning!

Children build foundations in communication, literacy, emotional and social skills during Pre-Prep years. They explore and understand the world around them in a multilingual environment guiding them forward. They learn together through play, lively guided discussions and interactive classes designed with our core learning pillars in mind.

At Claremont Nursery, children see celebrated all their accomplishments, big and small, and build a happy, dynamic learning community.
They are well supported by a superb team of qualified practitioners, by our Nursery Management team and our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO).
Together, the full team works tirelessly to form a real bond with each child and provide constant communication with their family.
Our ‘Star of the Week’ awards allow us to recognise progress and share successes. The children take great pride in being nominated as ‘Playground Friend’ or receiving the weekly ‘Kindness Cup’ for thoughtful behaviour.
Children start to develop teamwork, empathy and independence working with age-appropriate materials and charities like Children in Need and Dom’s Food Mission and actively contributing to their community.
Through activities in the Forest School, Beach School and play-led classes, children learn how to act in the outside world, engage with nature and improve social skills.
Children in Pre-Prep also have the opportunity to grow their confidence and range of experiences on school trips in the local area. Whether it is visits to working farms or nearby castles, they enjoy an exciting calendar planned throughout the year.
Children improve their English language skills, becoming more proficient in expressing their ideas, feelings and impressions in spoken and written form.
Learners also start introductory classes in French as an additional language, absorbing essential language skills from an early age.
