Our commitment to Safeguarding

At Claremont School, our students' welfare, health and happiness are at the heart of everything we do. Safeguarding is a responsibility shared by every member of our community and is underpinned by statutory requirements outlined in Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and other key government legislation.

Our Safeguarding encompasses a broad range of activities, including child protection, health and safety, site security, safety on trips, anti-bullying initiatives and online safety protocols.

Safeguarding policy

Students learn and grow in a secure environment at our Independent School in East Sussex. Our Safeguarding policy details our commitment to ensure a sheltered space:

  • Rigorous and regular training on abuse, radicalisation and mental health
  • Online safety on school premises with Smoothwall Monitor
  • Operation Encompass to support children exposed to domestic abuse
  • Behavioural policy
  • First aid training and an on-site school nurse
  • Monitored pick-ups and drop-offs for Pre-Reception and Pre-Prep
  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) department
  • Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks for all staff and volunteers

We collaborate with local safeguarding partners, including the Single Point of Advice (SPOA) in East Sussex and the Integrated Front Door in Kent. If your child or family needs support, reach out to us for help.
