VIRTUAL OPEN MORNINGS

See Yourself at Claremont...virtually!

These are extraordinary times and although COVID-19 has prevented us from hosting full open days for all prospective parents on site, our virtual open morning webinars are designed to give you a ‘virtual’ flavour of life at Claremont, and to hopefully inspire you to find out more about our school. Whilst government guidelines allow, we are happy to arrange a private tour for parents on Saturday 10th October and throughout the working week for those who would prefer to see the school while in session.

Our Speakers

Our speakers have tried to focus on the questions they get asked most regularly by prospective parents when they come to visit.  Claremont School has a remarkable history and has been on an extraordinary journey over recent years, culminating in a new and exciting partnership with ISP and a third consecutive  ‘Outstanding’ rating from Ofsted in March 2019.  Having achieved the much-coveted Green Flag Award, BBC Reporter School status and a new Nursery and Pre-Prep building opening its doors in early 2021, we have much to be proud of and plenty to look forward to.  We hope this webinar will help bring our school to life in what has recently become, a new virtual world.  Meet some of our key speakers …

Giles Perrin

Giles grew up in East Sussex in the UK, at Bede’s Senior School which his father founded in 1978.  In this webinar, Giles will talk about the extraordinary history of Claremont School, as the Senior School approaches its 10th year since its foundation and the Prep School looks ahead to its Centenary in 2025.  Giles will also talk about the School’s Promises to its Parents and its ambitions for the future.

Gavin Bunker

Gavin Bunker joined the Prep School as Headteacher of the Prep School in September 2019.  Gavin joined Claremont from Laude Palacio de Granda School in Spain where he had worked for three years.  Moving back to the UK with his young family, Gavin has quickly settled into East Sussex life and has been totally bowled over by the warmth and generosity of our School community.  In this webinar, Gavin will be talking about the ‘Spirit of Claremont’ and what makes it so distinctive.

Steph Edmunds

Steph is the Deputy Head – Academic, is our Head of Mathematics and has taught at Claremont for over 17 years.  All three of  Steph’s children were educated at Claremont with her youngest two daughters also attended Claremont Senior School which was founded in 2011.  Steph will be talking about Claremont’s unique approach to learning, what it means to be an ‘active learner’ and how we are well placed to prepare children for the challenges of Senior School and the world beyond.

Rachel Potter

Claremont Nursery and Pre-Prep are happy and joyful places for our youngest children in the school to learn, play and make friends.  Under the careful and watchful eye of Rachel Potter and her team, little children quickly settle and are given the very best start to the new world of school.  In our webinar Rachel will explain how little children learn and introduce you to her brilliant team.

After the Webinar

If you would like to join us for our next Virtual Prep School and Nursery Open Morning webinar on 16th October 2020 from 11:00am – 12pm, please fill in the registration form, indicating whether you would like to be contacted by our Admissions team to arrange either a site tour the following day on Saturday 10th October, or a private tour during the week so you can see the school on a normal working day.

If you would like to join us for this webinar, please also let us know if there is anything in particular you would like to know about the school by including your question on the Registration Form.  We hope to answer as many questions as we can throughout the course of the webinar, however, there will be another opportunity to submit your questions during the broadcast itself which we will endeavour to answer as soon as we can.

After our Virtual Open Morning Webinar, we will be in touch again with a unique link to a digital content hub we have set up specifically for webinar attendees.  This will give you an opportunity to hear from other key members of our teaching and leadership team, links to further reading and contact details should you wish to book a virtual meeting with a member of our Teaching or Admissions Team.

See Yourself at Claremont

From the Nursery all the way up to Sixth Form, we nurture a culture of mutual respect where every idea has value and possibilities and where pupils learn first hand, that hard work and perseverance leads to better outcomes. The needs, aims and aspirations of Senior School students approaching their GCSE years and the world of work are however, very different from those of the children in our Nursery and Prep School. In this respect, we believe that what differentiates our Schools is just as important as the shared values, aims and beliefs that bind us together.

Forest School Experience

The extraordinarily beautiful woodlands surrounding Claremont provide the perfect setting for children to develop crucial life skills, as they explore the natural world around them. Our exciting Forest School Programme is an integrated part of the school week for children from 2 to 11 years old.  At Claremont we believe our forest and woodlands are truly magical, but seeing really is believing. We will do our best to bring this wondrous space alive for you in our webinar, and hope to be able to welcome you to one of our Open Mornings in the Forest soon!
