We understand that choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions a parent will ever make, and navigating through the wealth of information online, particularly in the current climate where social distancing and travel restrictions make it difficult for parents and students to visit the school in person, can be both daunting and time-consuming. So for those parents and older students who want to cut to the chase and head straight to the essential information and a ‘concentrated burst’ of Claremont, we have prepared this page by curating the most commonly requested content and links to further reading.
On this page, you will be able to virtually ‘meet’ members of our teaching and leadership team in a series of mini-films taken from our recent live Virtual Open Morning webinar. You will also be able to tour some of our sites, view students’ work and much more. After you have had a chance to explore, if you would like to book a virtual meeting with a member of our team, be contacted about our next Live Virtual Open Morning webinar, or require further assistance from our Admissions team, please do not hesitate to contact Lily Lam for the day school, Charlotte Hamilton for Boarding, or call the Front Office on 01580 830396. We hope to hear from you really soon!
Take a drone’s eye view of our Senior School site, our Sixth Form Centre and an interactive tour of the Beaumont building to include our fabulous Performing Arts Centre.
Over the last year, we have hosted a series of live virtual Open Morning webinars to try and give parents and students a sense of what school life is like at Claremont. Below are some short films taken from the recording of the last Senior School Open Morning webinar which was broadcast live in October 2020. They include previews of presentations made by our Principal, Head of Senior School, Teaching and Learning and members of our senior leadership team with key responsibilities for student progress and welfare. There is also a short film featuring sections from the live Q&A session which was hosted at the end of the webinar.
At Claremont, academic endeavour meets ‘hands-on learning’. Supported by a bespoke co-curricular programme filled with challenge, choice and chances to step into the unknown and try something new, our students become increasingly confident in taking the lead and developing their own study paths to suit their style of learning. We are enormously proud of our students and their work, and how in a relatively short space of time, we have been able to build a purposeful and progressive learning environment that oozes creativity.
‘Claremont Extra’, was an idea born out of the confines of lockdown when Drama and Music students started to work with the original and powerful creative medium of Radio in order to share the plays that they had been devising and rehearsing with an audience. Claremont Extra’s main feature is the student-produced radio drama ‘Holly Avenue’, which is scripted, voice-acted and edited by the students.
The Claremont Sixth Form experience is designed to prepare young men and women, both inside and outside the classroom so that they are equipped with the right balance of knowledge and skills to not only make good decisions about their futures, but to be the masters of their own destiny when priorities and interests evolve or even change completely. Our study programmes are tailored to the individual, academically rigorous, and supported by the widest possible range of ‘hands-on’ learning experiences. When Sixth Form students leave Claremont, they take with them a portfolio of evidence not only charting their academic attainment, but also evidencing the skills they have developed, experiences they have had and all round capabilities as a student, future employee and citizen.
We offer a number of scholarships to students entering in Year 9 and Sixth Form. These awards are made to individuals who demonstrate outstanding potential in one or more of the following areas: Sport, Creative and Performing Arts, Equestrian and Academic subject areas. We are currently inviting scholarship applications for entry in September 2021.
We have really enjoyed the challenge of trying to use digital tools to project a flavour of what school life is like at Claremont, and as a result, it has made us even more ambitious and keen to explore new ways of communicating with prospective parents from afar, particularly International parents who are often unable to visit the school and meet us in person, and working parents based outside of East Sussex. For further information please contact a member of our Admissions team.
