Nestled in the glorious East Sussex countryside, just 70 minutes from London, 10 minutes from the seaside and surrounded by medieval villages and castles, lush vineyards and miles of rolling green hills, Claremont’s unique location is particularly popular with families looking to move out of London in search of more green space, and to balance the educational needs of their children, with a flexible working life and daily commute.
Our unique, Year 6-11 curriculum further enhances a dynamic ‘All Through School’ student experience in which we are able to deliver a continuity of educational ethos as well as a happy, seamless transition to senior school when the time comes. This is why Claremont is particularly attractive to young London-based families seeking a better work-life balance, without compromising on the education aspirations they have for their children.
Competition for senior school places can be fierce in London, and for parents considering selective schooling for their child, the added pressure of 7 Plus and 11 Plus examinations often compounds what is already a stressful time for the family. In our experience, this knowledge of what is to come, coupled with rising house prices and increased popularity of remote working, many young London-based families are reappraising city living, and researching alternative schooling options in the commuter belt, and even further afield. Principal, Giles Perrin has spent much of his life growing up in East Sussex and is a passionate advocate for the the county – Click here to read Mr Perrin’s recent Blogpost …
At the Prep School, our complimentary Early drop-off , Late Stay service and after school clubs, coupled with our popular Breakfast Club gives working parents further flexibility and peace of mind if they are running late, or need to start their working day a little bit earlier. School is about trying things, finding out and learning, both in and out of the classroom and why the termly release of the new Club list is always eagerly anticipated by children and parents alike.
Student outcomes at Year 11 and 13 are outstanding and with 125 acres of gorgeous playing fields and enchanted woodlands to explore, there is never a shortage of green space!
In March 2019, Claremont was judged to be ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in all categories for a third successive time, which serves as further evidence of our ongoing commitment to driving standards in teaching at learning and our focus on pupil outcomes.
Although non-selective, Claremont’s GCSE and A level results have been truly exceptional. Top performers in 2020 headed to a wide range of high profile universities to include Edinburgh, Loughborough, UCL, Winchester, Bristol and York, with the more creatively-driven, accepting places at UCA, Leeds, City University and other leading institutions specialising in the Arts.
In 2020, almost half of A Level results were graded A* to B with year on year improvements seen across the whole range of subjects both at A Level and GCSE. ALL Biology, Chemistry and Physics A Level students achieved A*-B grades as well as ALL Fine Art and Photography A level students. The Drama, Dance and Music department also celebrated some very strong results indeed, most notably in Dance which was only introduced to the curriculum in 2019 – a consistent trend that is further cementing Claremont’s growing reputation as a centre of excellence for the creative arts.
