8th March 22
Last week was a busy week in the MFL Department. In collaboration with our Humanities Department we thoroughly enjoyed World Book Day 2022.
Year 7 absolutely loved visiting Pre-Prep to deliver the children’s books that they had created. The style was Where’s Wally, focusing on prepositions of place in the house (because “la maison” is their current topic). The younger children were so excited to work with them and there were some great life skills learnt, as well lots of super French!
Year 6 got out and about, exploring our wonderful grounds while practising their topic of ‘town and directions’. The children worked in teams to figure out the French clues and to find letters hidden around the school. The final challenge was to create the longest French word linked to en ville. The results are still pending and we cannot wait to announce the winner!
Over in Spanish, the Year 8s took part in a Spanish food workshop hosted by our talented Chef John. The children were shown how to make Paella and Churros. They had to work out the ingredients and quantities in Spanish and learnt some essential cookery skills, which I hope they will use in years to come. It is so important for the children to embrace cultural awareness and differences in their learning. The food was utterly delicious and the Year 8s are definitely requesting Paella and Churros for their leavers week in the summer.
It was also lovely to have Year 2 join us, as they have also been learning about food in their Spanish lessons. A huge thank you to all the catering team for giving the children this wonderful opportunity.
Well done to all our Language learners!!!
