Boarding and day students enjoy a full programme of study and activities at school from Monday to Friday with many opportunities to explore further afield on the weekend.
As well as all the sporting and extra-curricular opportunities on offer at school, Claremont Boarders enjoy a full programme of social activities during evenings and weekends. These aim to engage students in creative, sporty and academic pursuits and range from knitting to kickboxing, photography to gardening, and from baking cakes to playing in a rock band!
Weekend outings for our Boarders are carefully planned so that there is a good balance of cultural visits, active pursuits and time to wind down after a busy week at school. Given our close proximity to London and with a mainline train station within walking distance of our boarding House in Battle, we regularly head up to the ‘Big Smoke’ on weekends to take in the sites, go to the theatre and eat in one of London’s many fabulous restaurants.
Boarders enjoy termly visits to the theatre, cinema, museums and in the summer months, regular trips down to the seaside. Boarders also have weekend use of the School’s extensive Sports facilities too, including our many football pitches, tennis courts, heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools, badminton and basketball courts and fitness gym. Private lessons in most sports including music, speech and drama can be arranged on request and will be chargeable extras.
Over the course of the year, our aim is to continue to provide students with a mix of cultural pursuits and exciting recreational activities. As part of our commitment to outstanding pastoral care, teachers also join in with activities and excursions as a means to interact with students outside the classroom and develop friendly relationships with the Boarding community.
Our school is located in a beautiful rural setting, whilst within easy reach of London, so there is always plenty for boarders to do!
The weekend is also an opportunity to catch up with homework on Sunday and get ready for the following week.

At the weekend students can go to bed slightly later. They often watch a film together on a Friday or Saturday evening. They can also have a relaxing lie-in in the morning and get up later to enjoy a traditional brunch (late breakfast-early lunch). Then the day is theirs to enjoy, chatting with friends, visiting the nearby town, going shopping, playing the piano, attending a church service, ringing home or just resting.
