Choosing the subjects you are going to study at A level is a big decision, even if you already know what career path you want to pursue after you leave Claremont. This page is designed to give you lots of information about each subject and also the chance to hear from our some of the teachers about what their subjects offer in the way of opportunity, skills development and access to further education.
But before you start to explore, our Director of Sixth Form has some advice and guidance on how to navigate this page and some top tips for making informed and smart decisions.
The A Level and BTEC Subject Factfiles below are designed to give Year 11 students a quick snapshot of what to expect on each course. All Factfiles include a summary of what students will learn about, the knowledge and skills they will develop along the way and some helpful insights and tips from current students already studying the courses. The Sixth Form Curriculum handbook provides more detailed information on course design and what students should consider when making choices.
You will find that some of the Factfiles also include a short film prepared by the teachers. To view, just click the ‘Play’ icon on the Factfile, remembering to use the ‘Click to go back’ arrow next to your search bar, to return to this page.
Now it’s over to you!
We suggest reading through The Sixth Form Curriculum Booklet as it provides more detailed information about each subject and what else you should consider when deciding which subjects are right for you.
Your choice of A Levels can impact further educational pathways and the opportunities that come your way later down the line, so we understand it is an important decision. But remember, we are always on hand to help and advise, so if you have questions at all about A Level or BTEC subjects and the combinations you are considering, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our Director of Sixth Form, Victoria Liggett, who will be happy to discuss options further with you.
Once you have made your decision, please submit your options by Monday, 22nd February via the link to a Google Form below.
