Job Description

Claremont Senior School, judged by Ofsted as ‘Outstanding’ in all areas in March 2019, seeks to appoint a dynamic and forward-thinking Head of Music to join our warm and friendly team at this vibrant and successful day and boarding school.

Claremont School is set a stone’s throw away from Bodiam Castle in the beautiful East Sussex countryside. Claremont is one of the fastest growing schools in the region.  The Creative Arts play a central role in life at the School. All students take weekly class Music lessons on their arrival into Year 9 and uptake at GCSE and A Level is good. The School has a successful choir and numerous small groups and ensembles. Regular concerts are a feature of life at the School and there is a good uptake of instrumental lessons by students. In September 2019 a purpose built Music department will open as part of a new Performing Arts Centre. Music plays an essential role within a buoyant and dynamic Creative faculty.

This role will suit an outstanding musician who has the appetite and ambition to build a department that is second to none in terms of the quality of its output. The successful applicant will have experience of teaching Music in a school environment and is likely to have a particular interest in the development of Music Technology.  They will have a record of working collaboratively across a range of disciplines and a passion for their subject they are keen to share. This is a full time position.
