Job Description

Claremont School is a co-educational, independent day and boarding school for children aged 1 to 18. We have approximately 700 students with a community of approximately 100 boarders from the UK as well as
other countries around the world, adding an important international and multi-cultural dimension to the school. Our boarding students come from all over the world, creating a rich and culturally diverse community where friendships are made that will last for many years to come.  Our boarding Houses combine the traditional values of a British Boarding school with the modern and dynamic environment of Claremont School.

We are now seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Housemaster for one of two boarding houses, situated in the historic town of Battle, to start in September 2019. The role of Assistant Housemaster is a highly fulfilling
role. The successful candidate will have a passion for boarding and school life as a whole.  The position would suit someone with experience of working in a boarding environment and will require teamwork, flexibility, compassion, resilience and a good sense of humour. The ethos of boarding at Claremont is to provide a home-from-home feel and that of a large extended family. With that in mind, our two boarding houses are situated off-site to allow boarders to enjoy the benefit of  returning  ‘home’ at the end of each school day. Every boarder is encouraged to develop their full potential in all areas of life and one of Claremont’s many strengths is its broad co-curricular programme. Claremont School boasts extensive facilities across two sites in the East Sussex countryside and is currently undergoing a period of expansion and development. As a non-selective school, Claremont is thriving in terms of examination results, enrichment, art, musical and sporting achievement.

In September 2017, Claremont School underwent a full boarding, welfare and care Ofsted inspection, achieving Outstanding in all categories. This accompanies the full school Ofsted inspections, conducted in both
2016 and 2019, in which Claremont was judged to be ‘Outstanding’ in all areas. You will therefore be joining an established team, operating to the highest standards of education and care.

This is a full-time, residential position during term time. Salary commensurate with experience.
