All Through School

Competition for senior school places can be fierce in London, and for parents considering selective schooling for their child, the added pressure of  7 Plus and 11 Plus examinations often compounds what is already a stressful time for the family.  In our experience, the knowledge of what is to come is often the catalyst for London families to reappraise city living, and start researching alternative schooling options in and around the commuter belt.

At Claremont, we offer a dynamic  ‘All Through School’ student experience within easy reach of the Capital, making our school particularly attractive to London based families seeking a better work / life balance and more green space, without compromising on a high-quality education for their child.  As a private boarding and day school for students aged 3 months to 18 years,  Claremont is able to deliver a continuity of educational ethos and a happy, seamless transition to senior school when the time comes. Student outcomes at Year 11 and 13 are outstanding and with 125 acres of gorgeous playing fields and enchanted woodlands, there is never a shortage of green space!

Bespoke Year 6 - Year 11 Curriculum

Every parent wants their child to succeed and to leave school with strong grades in a number of GCSEs and A levels under their belt.  Claremont’s unique and ever-evolving, Year 6-11 curriculum has been designed to engage pupils throughout as well as prepare them for the challenges of senior school early and that includes developing the skills they will need to do well at GCSE.   Claremont is not an exam hothouse, but by Prep and Senior school teachers working closely together and knowing each individual child so well, when the time comes to draw on the skills needed to perform well at GCSE,  it is already second nature to the students.

Forest School from Nursery to Year 6

We offer a Forest School education to all children from the Nursery all the way up to Year 6.  We are fortunate to have over 100 acres of beautiful grounds and truly enchanted woodlands which our children explore, play and learn in every day.  Our Forest School programme goes way beyond making mud pies and dens, with age-appropriate activities ranging from furniture making, to orienteering and from woodland weaving and breadmaking to constructing bug hotels and meeting places for the forest elves…

The Extended Day

At the Prep School, our complimentary Early drop-off , Late Stay service and after school clubs, coupled with our popular Breakfast Club gives working parents further flexibility and peace of mind if they are running late, or need to start their working day a little bit earlier.  School is about trying things, finding out and learning, both in and out of the classroom and why the termly release of the new Club list is always eagerly anticipated by children and parents alike.

Creative and Performing Arts Academy

In 2019, GCSE Art and Photography students achieved grade 5 or above, with two thirds of Art students being awarded either a 7 or an 8, whilst 80% of Fine Art and Photography A level students were awarded A*-B grades.  The announcement that Dance is now offered at GCSE, coupled with our new purpose-built dance studio, Performing Arts Centre and new double vaulted Art Studio has further cemented Claremont’s growing reputation as a centre of excellence for the creative arts.

Teaching and Learning

In March 2019, Claremont was judged to be ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in all categories for a third successive time, which serves as further evidence of our ongoing commitment to driving standards in teaching at learning and our focus on pupil outcomes.

Although non-selective, Claremont’s GCSE and A level results have been truly exceptional. Top performers in 2019 headed to a wide range of high profile universities to include Harvard, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, UCL, Edinburgh, Nottingham, University of Pennsylvania, Bournemouth and Southampton.

“The changes to A Levels in the past few years has been a real challenge for educators and my team and I are proud that Claremont has shown what is possible with such a diverse group of young people. Our school culture is shaped by a determination to provide opportunities for all abilities and interests. Being able to prepare young people for Maths degrees at Harvard as effectively as for Fashion courses in London is something all our staff are deeply proud of”.

Ed Dickie – Head of Senior School

More than a third of A Level results graded at A* or A
99% achieved A/A* equivalent in BTEC courses
Over third of students enrol at Russell Group universities
7% growth in the number of students achieving grades 9-4 at GCSE.

Sport

All students make full use of our extensive sports facilities to include over 100 acres of grass pitches, two sports halls, a fitness centre, two floodlit Astroturf pitches, tennis, netball courts, two swimming pools (indoor and outdoor) the use of world class equestrian facilities and an exceptional cross-country course. For children who can demonstrate a particularly aptitude for sport, scholarships are awarded for entry into Year 7 and 9

Unique in the UK is the Claremont Football Academy, our own in-house development programme run by Director Jim Colston, holder of the UEFA Advanced Coaching Licence and a professional talent scout.
