
Rachel has been working in childcare for 14 years. Starting out as a Nursery Assistant, she trained and worked her way up. She qualified with a certificate of higher education from the Open University while working full time.
I absolutely love my job watching children learn, grow and develop! I hope that I play a part in making their Nursery experience fun, safe and exciting.
What phrase or saying inspires you? The art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery.
If you could go back in time to you own school days, what advice would you give your younger self? Work hard as it’s easier to retain information when you’re younger.
Tell us something about yourself not a lot of people would know: My guilty pleasure is fishing!
If you weren’t a teacher, what job would you be doing instead? Care work. I love helping others.
What has being a teacher taught you? How much joy and laughter you can get out of one day in Nursery.
What are you currently ‘getting better’ at? I am getting better at organising.
During her time at Claremont, Rachel has moved from being a Nursery Practitioner to being a Room Lead. She has gained her Level 4 HNC in Early Years and is studying her Level 3 Forest School qualification.
The best thing about working Claremont Nursery is… working as part of such a great team, having such amazing grounds and getting to enjoy all the wonderful opportunities for outdoor learning.
The three items I’d take to a desert island are… a library (does this count as one thing?!), family (but not the ones who hate spiders as that would not be fair to them) and a solar powered torch!
The best advice I ever heard was… trust your instinct
