Exciting times

As the Senior School celebrates its 10th anniversary and the Prep School looks ahead to its Centenary in 2025, Claremont has been on an extraordinary journey over recent years, culminating in a new and exciting partnership with ISP and a third consecutive  ‘Outstanding’ rating from Ofsted in March 2019.  With significant rises in A level performance, the Senior School being named Independent School of the Year 2021 for the Performing arts, the Prep School achieving the much-coveted Green Flag Award and BBC Reporter School status and with an exciting multi-phase site development in full swing our school has much to be proud of and plenty to look forward to.

Early Years and Prep School

We are extremely fortunate to have the space across both of our sites to design some truly innovative new buildings, with significant work already underway and many new projects just around the corner.  The £3.5million ‘Octagon Project’ transformed the Bodiam site in 2019 and a £4.8 million, multi-phase, site development programme at the Prep School site saw the opening of a wonderful new Early Years and Pre-Prep building in May 2021. New classrooms, an Art studio and Science lab are currently being added to the main house and having recently secured planning permission for the development of an exciting new Sports Park in 2022, the development programme at Claremont has become all the more exciting as we head towards centenary celebrations in 2025.

GCSE and A Level

Although non-selective, Claremont’s GCSE and A level results have been truly exceptional. The outcomes for students are outstanding and reflect a school that continues to grow and develop at a rapid pace.  We have a very diverse student body at Claremont yet success in 2021 came in all areas of the curriculum, from the Sciences and Humanities to creative subjects such as Photography and Drama. 89% of our students are going to their University of choice and we were recently named Independent School of the Year 2021 for the Performing Arts.

BTEC Programme

This year over half of all A Level results were graded at either A* or A while 79% of A Level results were graded A* – B. BTEC results were exceptional with 85% of results a grade A/A* equivalent. Our BTEC programme in subjects such as Sports Science, Business and Digital Media, was particularly successful with 98% of all results graded at the equivalent of A* to C. Physics, Geography, Spanish and Psychology also saw 100% of students achieving a B grade or better.

"Through School" Experience

Our unique,  Year 6-11 curriculum further enhances a dynamic  ‘All Through School’ student experience in which we are able to deliver a continuity of educational ethos as well as a happy, seamless transition to senior school when the time comes.  With shared facilities at both the Senior and Prep school sites, students enjoy the use of over 100 acres of playing fields, a heated indoor and outdoor swimming pool, a modern dance studio, state of the art Performing Arts Centre and much more.  Most of our Year 8 students continue on to Claremont Senior School along with their friendship groups, and are already familiar with the campus layout and their new teachers.

International Schools Partnership

Claremont School is part of the International Schools Partnership, one of the largest educational groups in the world, with 50 schools and 45,000 students in 15 countries.  It is over three years since we joined the partnership and in that time we have made great strides right across the school.  Learning sits at the heart of everything we do. In addition to the financial security and significant investment in our facilities, our membership of the ISP group has enabled us to offer students an evolving programme of unique international learning experiences often reserved for the traditional ‘gap year’. We believe this offering really does set us apart from many other independent ‘through schools’ in the UK.

See Yourself at Claremont

There’s no better way to get a feel for Claremont’s unique and purposeful atmosphere than by visiting us in person.  It has been a long wait, but we are very excited to be able to open our doors once again to registered parents.  ‘Open House Week’ also incorporates Saturday 7th May to enable working parents and families that live further afield to also pay us a visit.

'Through School' Experience

From the Nursery all the way up to Sixth Form, we nurture a culture of mutual respect where every idea has value and possibilities and where pupils learn first hand, that hard work and perseverance lead to better outcomes. We understand that the needs, aims and aspirations of Senior School students approaching their GCSE years and the world of work are very different from those of the children in the Prep School, but many of our Prep School teachers have trained and worked in secondary education, so they are extremely knowledgeable about the challenges that lie ahead. By knowing each child so well and by working closely with the teaching and pastoral leads at the senior school, the Prep School team are able to ensure that by the time children reach Year 8, they are able to quickly adjust to their new senior school routines, and make swift progress in and outside the classroom.
