Year 9 curriculum
The Year 9 curriculum covers English, Mathematics and the three Sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) as well as French, Spanish, Geography, History, Music, Art, Drama, ICT and Physical Education. Classes in Chinese and German are also available on request.

International students, who have opted to do so, will follow the EAL (English as an Additional Language) course instead of the mainstream English lessons.

GCSE (2 year course): Years 10 and 11
In Years 10-11 there are three compulsory subjects: Mathematics, English (Literature and Language) or EAL, and Science.

Students also opt for a further three or four subjects, chosen from the following: French, Spanish, History, Geography, Religious Studies, Business Studies, Drama, Art, Dance, Music, Design and Technology, Computing, Physical Education, Photography.

A Level
Most students take three subjects for A Level. This is complemented by an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) which is worth half a full A Level.

We take great pride in our personalised approach to every student’s specific educational needs. We understand that GCSE and A level requirements vary greatly from one country to the next, and work closely with parents and agents to ensure students can reintegrate their home education system with ease after their study time at Claremont Senior. Extensive careers advice is also available for students who intend on studying at a British or American university.

Once registered, you will have the opportunity to discuss your child’s curriculum plan with Mrs Armstrong, Assistant Head – International.
