We welcome international pupils to our friendly school where they will find happy and hardworking pupils on safe and spacious school sites. Our caring staff are keen to provide a smooth transition and offer support and extra tuition (including EAL) at all levels.
Entry to Claremont may be at the ages of 11, 12, 13, 14+ or 16+ into the Sixth Form. Entry is normally in September but candidates will be considered for January and April starts subject to space being available. Pupils whose English is not their mother tongue are expected to have a minimum level of English.
Copies of school reports must be communicated to the Admissions Officer together with a 200 to 300-word letter in English from the prospective pupil. It is suggested that the pupil describes his/her likes and dislikes, family life, and spare time activities. Each international pupil’s English is tested again upon arrival to Claremont to help devise an appropriate programme.
The entrance procedure
Stage 1 – The Visit
Families are warmly invited to visit the School but it is not essential, as an interview with the Head can be conducted via Skype. You can attend one of our open mornings or make an individual appointment during term time that fits with your travel plans.
Stage 2 – Registration
To begin the application process you will need to complete an Application Form and pay a non-refundable Registration Fee of £200. On receipt of the completed form and payment, we will contact you with an entrance assessment. In the event of a formal offer of a place, the Deposit of £3,000 is due in order to reserve the place.
Stage 3 – Entrance Assessment
All registered candidates will be invited to sit our English assessment and have an interview either in person or via Skype. Applicants also hoping to join the Claremont Football Academy must either attend a trial here at the school, or provide evidence of their playing ability, such as a coach’s report and a short video clip. The Academy Director will also wish to conduct a Skype interview with students (and parents) who are unable to visit the school in person.
